What size bracelet should a man wear?

The size chart on the product page of each bracelet makes it easy. What counts is the circumference of your wrist, not the length of the bracelet. Measure around your wrist and you will get a recommended size that usually fits almost perfectly. All our leather and chain bracelets come in 7 sizes, covering wrist circumferences from 14 cm (XS) to 21.5 cm (XXXL), and most men have a wrist circumference of around 16–19 cm. A bracelet should not be too loose on the wrist, but it should not be so tight that it becomes uncomfortable either. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to fit about one finger between the bracelet and your wrist. All our beaded bracelets are elastic and come in 3 sizes, as do our bendable bangles.

Bracelets are one of the few accessories men can wear every day and in almost any situation: at work, at parties, at dinner or at a wedding. No dress code rules out a bracelet, and there are no fixed rules for how to wear one. In the end, it comes down to what you like. Still, a few things are worth knowing, so here are our style tips.

For a relaxed casual look with jeans and a T-shirt, leather bracelets and beaded bracelets work particularly well. Wear one on each wrist or stack them together, and mix colours and designs freely. If you want to play it safe, match your bracelet to your shoes: black bracelets with black shoes, brown bracelets with brown shoes.

If you are wearing a suit, a bangle is a stylish choice: a bracelet in solid metal made from a single piece. These are also known as cuff bracelets and give you a polished look when the occasion is a little more formal. A chain bracelet is another excellent choice. Keep it restrained, though: less is more, and one bracelet is often enough.

Heading to the beach in swim shorts, or going for a classic holiday look with a polo shirt and maybe a sun hat? Then a beaded bracelet is a great choice. Sometimes called pearl bracelets, they are made from beads in a wide range of stones and materials, and thanks to the elastic band they are comfortable and handle water well, perfect for a sunny day by the sea. Another option is braided bracelets in the style of rope and cord. They are usually made from yarn or nylon and give a laid-back look.

In short, there are no fixed rules. Choose your bracelets to suit your own taste, whatever the dress code or occasion.

How many bracelets should a man wear?

One to three bracelets is a good starting point. How many look good also depends on how thin they are: you can stack more slim chains and narrow leather or beaded bracelets, while a wide bracelet or a chunky bangle often looks best on its own or with one thin bracelet next to it. You can wear several on one wrist, or even on both, but as a rule of thumb, the more bracelets you wear, the more confident your sense of style needs to be. Piling on bracelets without thinking about how they work with each other and with the rest of your outfit can easily look cluttered.

Which wrist should a man wear a bracelet on?

There is no rule here, so it is entirely up to you. Many men wear their bracelet on the wrist without a watch, often the dominant hand, since a watch is usually worn on the non-dominant one. That way, both the bracelet and the watch get the attention they deserve. If you prefer to wear a bracelet and a watch on the same wrist, that works too: see our tips in the next question. Can you wear a bracelet with a watch?

Yes. A watch and a bracelet almost always work well together if you combine them the right way, and a bracelet can even make your watch stand out more. If your watch has a leather strap, choose a bangle or a stone bead bracelet. Leather on leather is not a style crime, but it rarely looks as good, so wear your leather bracelet on the other wrist instead. With a metal watch strap, go for a bracelet in leather, stones or yarn. That balance makes the whole outfit look more coherent. Also make sure the metal tones match: a gold-tone watch goes best with one of our gold bracelets in gold-tone steel, or a bracelet with gold-tone details.

How do I clean and care for a bracelet?

A sterling silver bracelet can handle showers and baths, but it tarnishes faster when it comes into contact with water. The easiest way to clean a tarnished silver bracelet is with silver polish, and a bangle is easy to polish back to a high shine. If the bracelet is just dirty, a little mild soap, lukewarm water and a cloth are usually enough.

On a sterling silver link bracelet, tarnish is harder to remove because you cannot polish every part of it. Try this method instead: place the bracelet on aluminium foil in a bowl, sprinkle plenty of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) over it and pour boiling water on top. Leave it for about 15 minutes, then rinse the bracelet with water and wipe it dry with a cloth. A chemical reaction transfers the tarnish to the foil.

Do not store silver bracelets together with other silver jewellery, as this speeds up tarnishing. They are best kept separately in a box or a velvet pouch.

Avoid showering or bathing with leather bracelets. Apart from that, they need very little care: leather is a natural material that develops a patina and changes character over time. If you like, you can treat the leather with a leather balm or conditioner, but it is not necessary, as the patina is a big part of a leather bracelet's charm.

Stainless steel bracelets are completely maintenance-free and can handle showers and baths. They are extremely durable and only need cleaning when they get dirty: a cloth, a little mild soap and lukewarm water will do.
